Terms of service
The terms that apply when you use Renovara, from Scoptico Pty Ltd trading as Renovara.
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Scoptico Pty Ltd trading as Renovara (ABN 64 671 315 914), of 19 Macquarie Street, Jamberoo NSW 2533 ("Renovara", "we", "us"). They apply when you start a trial, subscribe to or use the Renovara service. If you use Renovara for an organisation, you accept these terms for that organisation and confirm you are authorised to do so; "you" then means both you and the organisation.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms.
2. The service
Renovara provides access to Australian electricity and gas market data, drawn mainly from data published by the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), together with analyst guidance, through a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that you connect to an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT. The datasets available are described at renovara.co/how-renovara-works. We may add, change or retire datasets and features over time. If we remove something material to your subscription, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can.
3. Your account
- You sign in with your email address and a one-time code we send to it. Keep access to that mailbox secure; anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
- A subscription is for the person who holds the account. Don't share your sign-in or let others use the service through your account unless we have agreed to it in writing.
- You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at info@renovara.co if you think it has been used without your permission.
4. Free trial
New accounts may start with a free trial, currently 30 days, with no payment details required. When the trial ends without a payment method on file, your access pauses. You can continue at any time by adding a payment method in the billing portal, which starts your paid subscription from that day. We may change or withdraw trial offers, and may limit trials to one per person or organisation.
5. Fees and payment
- Fees are as shown on renovara.co/pricing when you subscribe, in Australian dollars and including GST unless stated otherwise.
- Subscriptions are billed in advance for each billing period through our payment provider, Stripe, and renew automatically until cancelled.
- We may change our fees by giving you at least 30 days' notice by email. The new fee applies from your next billing period after the notice ends; if you don't accept it, you can cancel before then.
- If a payment fails, we may suspend access until it is paid.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time in the billing portal (Manage at the top of renovara.co). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have paid for, and you keep access until then. Fees already paid are not refunded for part periods, except where the law requires it.
7. Acceptable use
You may use the service and the answers it produces for your own business or personal purposes, including in reports and advice you prepare for your clients. You must not:
- resell, sublicense or redistribute access to the service, or provide it to others as part of your own data product;
- extract the data in bulk, systematically copy it, or use it to build or train a competing dataset or service;
- share your sign-in, or try to get around access limits, authentication or usage controls;
- probe, scan or test the security of the service, or interfere with its operation, except with our written permission;
- use the service unlawfully, or in a way that infringes anyone's rights.
We may set reasonable limits on query volume to keep the service working for everyone.
8. Market data and third-party sources
Most of the data comes from AEMO and is used under AEMO's copyright permissions; some comes from other public sources, such as OpenElectricity. Their terms continue to apply to that data. We load and refresh the data as published, but we don't control its accuracy, completeness or timing, and published data is sometimes revised after the fact. We refresh our tables regularly (currently daily) but don't guarantee that any particular interval or report is available by a particular time.
9. AI assistants and answers
You connect Renovara to an AI assistant under your own account with its provider (for example Anthropic or OpenAI), and that provider's terms apply to your use of it. The assistant, not Renovara, interprets your question, writes the queries and words the answer, and AI-generated answers can be wrong or incomplete. The queries the assistant runs are shown so you can check them. You are responsible for checking an answer before you rely on it.
10. Not advice
Renovara provides data and information. It is not financial, investment, trading, legal or engineering advice, and nothing in the service is a recommendation to buy, sell or take any action in a market. Decisions you make using the service are yours.
11. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available and working well, but it is provided over the internet and depends on third parties (including AEMO, our cloud and data platforms, and AI assistant providers), so we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may carry out maintenance, and we will try to do so at times that cause little disruption.
12. Intellectual property
We own, or are licensed to use, the service, our software, the analyst guides and how the data is organised. These terms give you a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service while your subscription or trial is active; they don't transfer any of our intellectual property to you. Your questions, and the answers and outputs you produce with the service, are yours to use within these terms. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
13. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, that you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law and that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where we are allowed to limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited, at our option, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, data, business or opportunity, however caused, including through reliance on data or answers obtained through the service; and
- our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with the service or these terms is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
15. Your responsibility to us
You are responsible for, and will compensate us for, loss or claims arising from your breach of section 7 (acceptable use) or your unlawful use of the service, except to the extent we caused or contributed to them.
16. Suspension and ending these terms
We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms (including non-payment) and, where the breach can be fixed, you don't fix it within 14 days of our notice, or immediately where needed to protect the service, other users or the law. We may also stop offering the service by giving you at least 30 days' notice, and will refund any fees paid for the period after it ends. Sections 8 to 15 continue after these terms end.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. For a change that materially affects you, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by email or on renovara.co before it applies. If you keep using the service after that, the updated terms apply; if you don't agree, you can cancel before they take effect.
18. General
These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. A failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it. You may not assign your rights under these terms without our consent; we may assign them to a business that takes over the service, with notice to you.
